I dont have a problem with it . I like the way he mixes his passion for travel with his sense of humour. And considering they dont have a massive budget to spend on the show, I think they've done quite well at putting it together.
This small show just shows how big his personality is! |

| I rally can't agree, on his travel shows he appears to be relaxed and very much at ease but on his live show he overacts and tells very unfunny jokes. |

well give him some credit, he preforms the live show infront of an audience
id imagine he'd be a bit nervous so fair play to him, not everybody would even think of doing it. |

No way!
It's his amateurish, anything-goes manner in the show that makes it so appealing. It makes a refreshing change from the scripted, multiple-take shows that are all around us.

That is my whole point it is amatuerish and Ian is a professional who should know better than tell weak jokes and act so over the top.
P.S. ABLO just read you profile what is streetfighting all about? - explain! |

Where do I start!
I was just joking about the streetfighting. 'Handy in a scrap' means that I would be good if I was in a fight...but I was joking about that too.
How did we end up talking about fighting, anyway? |

| I'm going to have to try and catch that on Globetrekker.tv. The Ian Wright Live show was filmed here, in Toronto, in 2003 (I think), about 20 minutes from my house!! Had I known, I would have definitely attended at least one of the live shows! |

Unfortunately I'm not able to pay because I'm from Germany so I can't pay in $$. Is there a possibility to show Ian Wright Live for free? |

Hi there - Payment is made online via PayPal so there is no problem. Unfortunately we won't be offering as free content. However, we'lll probably make a couple of trailers available for free. |

Well..... there is some point in that......but.....its really hard to explain in words... i will give u an example.
When Charlie Chaplin was alive they held a Charlie Chaplin imitation contest. And CC participated himself under another false name.
And guess what? he himself came third!!!!!
So u see, its really hard to imitate yourself. Similar is the case of Ian Wright Live . You can literally feel the producers he has got on his back telling him "act nutty, moooooore nutty" And in trying to iamitate himself he came third......
U see... a lot depends on the director and producer. They decide the target audience. And you can see that the target audience for this show is not the fans but the people who have never heard of LP. So thats why 10 mins of every episode are wasted in telling who Ian is, wat he does and why the hell is he there. So if this show was bad it is the production dept's fault. Dont blame Ian. He did wat he was told to do.
But the show is not all that bad!!! Its awesome. Highly recommended. I feel Pilot took a wrong turn in not going for season 2. They should have just changed the director, producer and made more episodes. Look how good Ians other shows are doin. I know you would say they include some travel. But you know...when u hav a celebrity lik Ian you can make a fantastic show even if he is enclosed in a prison cell. The director, Angela Gourley really screwed this one..... |

Well, "Ian Wright Live" aside for a minute, his Discovery Channel show was toned down quite a bit, but also had a bit of his humor in it; some a little slapstick esp toward the end, but he learned his lesson on the Live Show. Ian's most humorous segments came on GT when the unexpected happened; and he was with people; esp children. I love the time in the Tuscany episode when the olive grove tree just snapped and fell down when he was on the ladder pruning it; and he just went with it talking the whole time like it was planned while the farmer started laughing
his a** off.
Same episode he was taking the bus but didn't know you had to get it validated in a machine in the terminal; he was so frustrated since he was bragging to us how cheap it was to go by bus, and the conductor fined him extra money; he let go with a "f***ing bus terminal" that even PBS didn't catch! (Pls Pilot don't edit that one out!! Watch the Bolivia episode; full of classic Ian. Not planned, just his reactions to the country. Also Baja
California which wasn't much fun for him to do and you can tell it but it has its moments, such as Ian and the Whale! Fun episodes, at least for me, to watch. |

It was called "America the Wright Way"; and featured 6 episodes: Las Vegas, Chicago, New York, Nashville, New Orleans and Miami. All of which had been done by GT in some episode or other. You can see the blog comments if you log onto Travelchannel.com and click onto his show; parts of episodes are being shown on YouTube. I wish he had picked some more interesting material for the cities; and he could have picked some different cities in my opin. (except he did a great show on New Orleans). I understand this was his own production company that
filmed it). |
