I'm pretty much vegetarian. Sometimes I will eat seafood, but that is rather infrequent as I am landlocked and not a huge fan of freshwater fish. Anyway, I am curious if anyone out there can recomend some travel destinations where vegetarians will not feel out of sorts or culturally insensitive.
I've heard souther India is the place to go.
At one point I ate camel in Morocco to be polite, which I don't regret. I just didn't want to offend the family that brought me in for lunch with my dietary neurosis. |

Keep an eye out for Hare Krishna places when travelling. A lot of cities have them and they're guaranteed vege, also often cheap.
Stay away from the Philippines as they have no idea on vegetarianism. I think they would just put the meat in my food for free cos they liked me...no charge mate no they insist...really they don't mind putting it in there free..
Most of South East Asia will have vege food. I found a great place in Bangkok where you pay by the gram and it's all fake meat and mushrooms mmmm.
The curries in Cambodia are possibly the best food on earth! Also the beer to wash it down costs next to nothing. |
