Night Life
Chamaleon Variete, Berlin
A great way to enjoy a night out in Berlin is to go to one
of the many variety shows that take place in the city. A number
of venues are trying to revive the lively and lavish variety
shows of Golden 1920s Berlin. Programmes include dancers,
singers, jugglers, acrobats and other entertainers who each
perform a short number. The Chamaleon Variete in the trendy
Hackesche Hofe complex in Mitte offers a variety show that
includes comedy and slapstick, juggling acts, singing and
more.

Restaurants/Cafes
Arche Noah Restaurant, Berlin
This is Berlin's ity's only kosher restaurant. Much of the
language and style of American deli food is influenced by
Jewish cooking. Treats include chopped liver and what the
Americans call 'Jewish penicillin', or to the rest
of us, chicken soup. Even the word bagel, which originated
in Poland, probably reached America through Germany. The Yiddish
influence can be found in worlds like lax or lox, which comes
from the German words lachs. Terms which we take for granted
like gefilte fish, meaning stuffed fish, from the German
gefulte. In Arche Noah you can taste Jewish food at its best.
